CIBP Executive Committee in Quebec City

The CIBP Executive Committee took place today at 9:00 in Quebec City as official event of the 2016 International Summit of Cooperatives.

During the welcome messages Mr De Censi, President of CIBP underlined the importance of being present with our Confederation at the leading event for cooperative and mutual designed to reflect, discuss the current and future economic and financial issues.

Mr Cormier, President of Desjardins Group presented his vision and the main lines that have driven his campaign when running for the election as President of Desjardins.

After the welcoming messages, the first part of the Executive Committee was dedicated to give an outlook on the Cooperative banking sector with a special focus on some geographical areas where CIBP is not yet represented. In particular the Executive Committee members had the opportunity to assist to the presentation of:

Mr. Bill Hills, CIO, Navy Federal Credit Union (USA)

Mr. Armen Gabrielyan, CEO, Farm Credit Armenia (Armenia)

Mr. Hiroshi Takashima, Research Counsellor, Norinchukin Research Institute (Japan).

Members of the Executive Committee had also the honour to exchange with Mrs Monique Leroux, that participated in the gathering for the first time under the hat of President of the International Alliance of Cooperatives.

The ICA President expressed her appreciation for the strong engagement of CIBP as partner of the Summit and thanked all delegates for joining the cooperative community in Quebec.

The second part was dedicated to the CIBP members key challenges.

CIBP members exchanged on their business priorities after the presentations of:

Ms. Corinna Sander, DZ Bank AG (Germany) on “Innovation and Management in DZ Bank”; Mr. Giuseppe Maiolini, Assopolari (Italy) on “Comparison of financial education experiences: Italy, Europe, World”; Mr. Michel ROUX, FNBP (France) on “Mon Bureau Pop, a platform reserved to members of Popular Banks”; Mr. Marco Aurélio Borges de Almada Abreu, President and Director, Bancoob (Brazil) on "Bancoob's 20th anniversary and the evolution of Brazilian financial cooperativism". The last part of the meeting was dedicated to the institutional duties. In particular the members of the Executive Committee analysed the current financial situation and receive a detail report on the current activities of CIBP.
